Mr. O'Connell was raised in Evanston and graduated from the University of Wyoming in 2004 with a degree in Business Management and a minor in Finance. He began his career at Weatherford International, quickly rising to lead regional sales. He then managed Cedar Rentals for 15 years, growing profits to $2.5MM, while simultaneously launching Aspen Tools—a debt-free oilfield rental business that achieved $700K in first-five-year revenue. His entrepreneurial experience includes inventory, procurement, logistics, account management, budgeting, and business development. He expanded into real estate and retail, increasing one retail business's sales 5× over five years. O'Connell joined State Bank in 2021 as both investor and VP of Business Development. He oversees financials, supports the CEO in regulatory exams and call reports, drives modernization and profitability, and strengthens business development initiatives. He serves on the boards of the Wyoming Community Foundation (Uinta County chapter) and the Wyoming Golf Association and is active in local charity work.
